The Field Framework

Most brands are built around what a founder believes their customer wants to become. The Field Framework starts with who that customer already is.

These are not the same thing. And the gap between them is where marketing budgets disappear.

The Field Framework is a proprietary marketing operating system built on one foundational premise: the customer's life already exists. It has texture, rhythm, ritual, and contradiction. The brand's job is not to construct a world for the customer to enter. It's to understand the field they're already living in — and earn the right to be there.

This shapes everything. Positioning, messaging, creative direction, channel strategy, customer journey, retention. All of it starts in the same place.

The Five Questions

Every engagement starts here. A weak answer to any one of them is a weak foundation for everything that follows.

  1. Who is this person, specifically?
    Not a demographic. A human.

  2. What does their life actually look like?
The texture, the rituals, the contradictions.

  3. Where does this product live in their actual day?
Not where you want it to fit. Where it actually lives.

  4. Why would they let this brand in — without feeling marketed to?
The bar is permission, not purchase.

  5. How does the brand stay there?
The goal is not to be loved. The goal is to be the thing they'd genuinely miss.

What This Looks Like in Practice

The framework isn't a research exercise or a brand audit. It runs through the full engagement — from the first positioning conversation to the performance metrics used to measure what's working.

When a recent client needed a marketing foundation built from scratch, the field work defined everything: who the customer was with specificity, what his Wednesday night actually looked like, where the product lived in it, and why he'd let it in without feeling like he had a problem to manage. That clarity drove the acquisition strategy, the creative direction, the channel approach, and the retention play. Homepage CVR on cold traffic went from 0.05% to 0.49% in three weeks.

The field changes with every client. The method doesn't.
